PETALING JAYA: Two maids were caught on camera bringing two men into their employer’s home and hiding them in the maids’ room while the employer and his wife were upstairs.

On July 29, Dr. Shazril Shaharuddin returned home around 9:20 p.m. after a haircut.

“As I was about to enter, I noticed two unfamiliar men outside. I didn’t think much of it because many people come and go in my neighborhood. My wife then left for work at 9:40 p.m., and my children and I saw her off at the door. That’s when my neighbor came over and informed me that he saw two men enter my house,” he shared in a viral Instagram post.

Dr. Shazril initially dismissed the neighbor’s claim since he was home at the time. “But when I recalled seeing the two unknown men earlier, I was alarmed.”

Concerned, Dr. Shazril questioned the maids, and one eventually confessed that the men had left. However, his wife was worried that the intruders might still be inside the house.

“So, I decided to check the security footage of our home,” he said.

The footage revealed a disturbing truth: the two men were allowed in and never left. “One of the maids placed a bottle in front of the camera at 8:36 p.m. to block its view. Then, the second maid turned the camera away at 8:40 p.m., facing the television. At 9:25 p.m., when I was already home and my wife was upstairs, the two men were let in.”

Concerned for the safety of his children, including his baby that the maids were caring for, Dr. Shazril called the police at 11:10 p.m. “When my wife is on a weekly call, we let the maids take care of and sleep with our baby while I look after our two sons,” he explained. Three patrol officers arrived ten minutes later and raided the maids’ room when Dr. Shazril’s calls to them went unanswered. They discovered the men shirtless in the maids’ room.

Following the incident, Dr. Shazril expressed his deep concern and questioned what could have happened if the baby had cried and provoked a violent reaction. “I gave my maids a stern reprimand, expressing my extreme disappointment for exposing my children to unknown strangers. What if my baby had cried in their room and they decided to harm my baby?”

He also terminated the maids’ employment and issued a public warning about the importance of vigilance when hiring domestic helpers. “The lesson I learned is to trust no one and always be strict,” Dr. Shazril concluded, expressing gratitude that the maids’ plan was thwarted and his family remained safe.
