PUTRAJAYA: The father of a 12-year-old boy, who was recently filmed driving a car with his two younger siblings on a joyride in Taman Putra Impiana, Puchong, Selangor, has provided a statement to the police.

Sepang District Police Chief ACP Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof reported that the 53-year-old father’s statement was recorded at the police station at 11:30 pm last night. The initial findings indicate that the boy was driving a Perodua Viva around the housing area with his six- and four-year-old brothers around 8 pm last Sunday.

“The investigation is ongoing. We encourage anyone with information regarding this incident to reach out to the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at the Sepang district police headquarters,” Wan Kamarul Azran said in a statement today.

The case is being investigated under Section 39(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. The incident gained widespread attention after a video showing a member of the public intervening and stopping the vehicle went viral. In the video, the car is seen driving over a speed bump before the woman recording asks the boy his age and indicates her intention to file a police report.
