The suspect in the murder of UPSI graduate Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah will be charged tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: A police officer detained in connection with the murder of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) graduate Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah will be charged in court tomorrow.

Reported by Berita Harian, Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, when confirming the matter, said the suspect will be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

“Yes, the suspect will be charged tomorrow under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he said briefly.

It is understood that the charge against the lance corporal will be conducted at the Kuala Kubu Bharu Court tomorrow morning.

On July 15, media reported that the body of Nur Farah Kartini, 25, was found in an oil palm plantation area in Kampung Sri Kledang, Hulu Selangor, around 6 pm.

The discovery of the victim’s body was a result of an investigation into the suspect, who was also an acquaintance of the victim.

The suspect was remanded for seven days from July 16 to July 22 before the remand was extended for another seven days until July 29 to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Perak police confirmed that the suspect is one of their officers stationed at the Slim River Police Station in Tanjung Malim and has served for five years.

The suspect, who hails from Melaka, is also married.

In the investigation into the murder, police investigators conducted various operations to search for and collect evidence at several locations in Hulu Selangor, Muallim, and Slim River in Perak.

The search conducted by forensic teams, including the diving unit, led to the discovery of a mobile phone in a drain, as well as car keys and a wallet in Sungai Trolak.
