22 killed as domestic plane crashes at Kathmandu Airport

KATHMANDU: A total of 22 people lost their lives after a domestic plane crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Reported by Bernama, spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Hansa Raj Pandey, informed Xinhua that one survivor has been rescued and hospitalized.

The airport has been temporarily closed due to the incident.

Saurya Airlines flight was reported to be en route to Pokhara city, with 17 crew members onboard, Pandey said.

International media reported that the plane crashed during takeoff at TIA, Kathmandu.

Rescue operations are still ongoing at the scene of the incident.
