“We couldn’t even afford RM1 for Nasi Lemak,” actress Diana Danielle reflects on her tough childhood
KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Diana Danielle has shared that her childhood was marked by hardship, recounting how she and her single mother had to move frequently.
“I come from very humble beginnings. There were times when we had no home and had to stay with relatives and friends. My mother was unemployed for two years, and during that period, we moved 11 times in a short span, carrying just my backpack,” the 33-year-old actress revealed on a YouTube podcast hosted by Deborah Henry.
She added, “I was around 10 to 12 years old at the time. My mother fell ill and lost her business. We were so financially strained that we couldn’t even afford a RM1 packet of nasi lemak.”
These challenging experiences, she explained, were pivotal in her decision to pursue acting with dedication.
The Imaginur film actress also mentioned that these struggles have led her to appreciate living a simple life without the pursuit of material wealth.
“I’ve learned that material possessions are just things, money is just money, and while everyone aspires to be a millionaire, I believe that mindset can become a distraction,” she said. “This pursuit often leads to stress as people struggle to meet societal expectations.”
