KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) is providing sufficient space for the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to investigate officers and personnel involved in criminal cases.

According to Berita Harian, the Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, stated that the ministry has entrusted PDRM with the responsibility to conduct investigations until those responsible are brought to justice.

He added that KDN takes any misconduct among its officers and personnel very seriously.

“Integrity and adherence to the law are our top priorities. If such incidents occur, we give the police full scope to carry out their investigations.

“Once all the information is gathered, PDRM is free to take further action, bring the case to court, and so on.

“The leadership of KDN will not defend such actions… the investigation process must be conducted appropriately,” he said at a press conference following the post-Cabinet meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) today.

He made these remarks in response to the arrest of a police constable in connection with the murder of Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) graduate Nur Farah Kartini last Monday.

Additionally, six individuals, including three police officers, were detained in connection with the theft of Jet-A1 kerosene fuel at the Peninsular Malaysia Air Force Base, Royal Malaysia Police (PGU) in Subang, Selangor, last Tuesday.

Further commenting, Saifuddin said that KDN’s policy will not compromise on any form of misconduct that breaches principles of integrity, especially involving PDRM as the country’s largest law enforcement agency.

“They (PDRM) must be ‘whiter than whites’ (the most clean). This is required if someone chooses to join PDRM; then compliance with the law must be at its maximum.

“There can be no compromise on this (law adherence), but if crimes do occur, then let the investigation process take its course,” he said.
