KUALA LUMPUR: Due to an unusually strong downpour this morning, the ceiling at the Gate G6 boarding lounge at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) began to leak, as reported by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB).

The airport operator announced in a statement that due to necessary repairs, the boarding lounge will be temporarily closed until 12 pm.

We reassured that there is no impact on flight operations, and that the aircraft that were originally planned to take off from this lounge have been moved to other gates. According to MAHB, “We are collaborating closely with our airline partners to make sure that all impacted passengers are promptly informed of these changes.”

Additionally, MAHB reported that the on-site maintenance crew swiftly resolved the situation, which happened this morning at 8:11 a.m.

“The maintenance team is aggressively attempting to fix the leak and is carrying out a comprehensive examination to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Furthermore, we intend to evaluate and improve our facilities’ overall resilience in order to better survive severe weather situations,” the statement continued. – Bernama
