KOTA BHARU: The Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) plans to open an enforcement office in Gua Musang, in an effort to curb smuggling activities in the area.

Berita Harian reported, Kelantan JKDM Director, Wan Jamal Abdul Salam Wan Long, said his party would send the paperwork to Putrajaya for further action.

“We found that there is a lot of smuggling activity in Gua Musang, while the location is far away and takes three hours to travel from Kota Bharu.

“There was a time when our operation in Gua Musang failed due to the time consuming journey. Because of that we plan to open an enforcement office in Gua Musang.

“We have also identified the location of the office in Gua Musang town and will house 14 officers and members if it is approved,” he said at a press conference today.

Commenting further, he expects the office to be opened this year.
