LANGKAWI: Muhammad Naqib Rashidi had posted on social media slightly over an hour before he tragically passed away in a car accident Friday night, expressing his desire to work hard and save money in order to take his parents on an umrah.

The 18-year-old from Kampung Chandek Kura expressed his desire to pursue his education independently of his parents’ financial support.

“Relying on my parents’ money? I’m willing to not continue my studies because I don’t want to burden them.

“Learning about struggle by myself, sorry mum and dad, Akib can’t make you happy like other kids who can continue their studies.

“Akib doesn’t want to trouble mum and dad, Akib will work hard without burdening you. Akib understands your exhaustion.

“Once Akib has everything, Akib won’t forget everyone who made Akib hurt and happy. “Akib’s dream is to take mum and dad to umrah using Akib’s own money. Akib hopes to succeed and mum and dad will be with Akib.”

After the motorcycle that he was riding collided on Jalan Padang Matsirat here around 11.30 p.m. last night, Naqib passed away at the scene. The incident also involved three additional motorcycles.

Naqib’s father, 50-year-old preacher Rashidi Shukri, said he thought Naqib had put the status before he left the house last night at around ten o’clock.

“This morning, my friend provided me with a screenshot via WhatsApp of Akib’s most recent status, which was posted on social media just before the incident.

“When I got home last night at 9:30 p.m. from giving a lecture, Akib had informed his mother, Norkhoziyah Diah, that he was leaving the house to take out the trash. I didn’t see him at home again after that.”Before I hurried to the site, at approximately 11.30 p.m., I learned that he had an accident and was unconscious,” he stated when he was greeted at the Forensic Unit of Sultanah Maliha Hospital (HSM) today.

Rashidi added that following the completion of his Form Five studies and the receipt of his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination results at the end of May, his late son had been working part-time at a hotel in Pantai Tengah.
