KUALA LUMPUR: Yazit Ahmad, the late drummer for the well-known Malaysian rock band Search, was commemorated yesterday night during the band’s Gemuruh concert at Zepp KL, here.

Berita Harian reports that following a segment honouring the late drummer, Minister of Communications Fahmi Fadzil, through his representative Izhar Yusof, gave a payment of RM5,000 to the family of the iconic musician.

The performance promoters, Big Stage Entertainment and redONE Mobile, also contributed RM5,000 to Yazit’s family, who was represented by his wife Ramlah Ahmad and third child Shafiqa Nurlis.

“I want to thank you for supporting my dad no matter what during his life. To all Search supporters, please keep up the support, regardless of the group.

Syafiqa wished everyone the absolute best.

On September 26, 2019, Yazit passed away at the age of 57 at the Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL).

He apparently complained of shortness of breath and was admitted to the HKL emergency ward. When he arrived at the hospital, his heart stopped, and respiratory aid (CPR) was administered to him.

During the two-and-a-half-hour Gemuruh concert, 17 of Search’s hit songs were performed in front of roughly 2,000 fans by singer Amir Masdi, guitarists Noordin Mohd Taib (Din) and Hamzah Mohd Taib (Kid).
