The details of BlackRock’s total investment are the focus of the Dewan Rakyat today
KUALA LUMPUR: The amount of investment by BlackRock and its related companies in Malaysia was among the focus of today’s Dewan Rakyat conference.
Bernama reported, according to the Rules of Procedure of the Meeting on the Parliament portal, the matter will be raised by Lim Guan Eng (PH-Bagan) to the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry during the Minister’s Question Time session.
Lim asked for details on the state in which BlackRock has investments as well as the implications for the national economy if the company’s investment over decades is dropped.
At the same session, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi (PN-Kuala Langat) asked the Minister of Health to state the difference between the specialist training program between local universities and the overseas specialist training program (Parallel Pathway) as well as the government’s budget for specialist training.
Aminolhuda Hassan (PH-Sri Gading) on the other hand wanted the Foreign Minister to state the benefits obtained by Malaysia following the re-strengthening of relations with Central Asian countries through Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s visit to several countries in the region in mid-May last.
During the Oral Questions and Answers session, Commander (B) Nordin Ahmad Ismail (PN-Lumut) wanted the Minister of Communications to state the actions taken to deal with the issue of spreading pornographic videos and pictures on social media platforms, which also aims to promote sex-related products.
In addition, Lo Su Fui (GRS-Tawau) asked the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living to state plans to standardize the price of goods between the Peninsular and Sabah and Sarawak as well as a mechanism to deal with the problem of smuggling of subsidized necessities.
The issue of the word Allah will also be raised again in the Dewan Rakyat when Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (PN-Pagoh) raises the status and latest developments of the establishment of a Special Technical and Legal Documentation Committee to study the ‘Nik Elin case’ and a committee to study the issue.
After the session, the Dewan Rakyat session continued with the first reading of the Audit (Amendment) Bill 2024.
Also listed in today’s meeting rules is the second reading of the Limited Liability Partnership (Amendment) Bill 2024 as well as the resumption of the debate on the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2024.
The Second Meeting, Third Term of the 15th Parliament will last for 15 days until July 18.
