Salesman loses more than RM900,000 in share investing scam
IPOH: After being tricked by Facebook stock investments on the internet since April, a guy lost RM904,000.
The 51-year-old complainant, a salesman, filed a report with his department yesterday, according to Perak police head Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.
According to preliminary findings, on April 15, the victim was at home when he noticed an investment offer on Facebook. He clicked on the link and proceeded to communicate with a woman over WhatsApp.
“On May 1 and 12, the complainant deposited RM904,000 into two bank accounts in the names of two different companies. However, the complainant did not receive the promised return and suspected that he had been deceived,” he said in a statement today.
According to Mohd Yusri, the case was looked into in accordance with Penal Code Section 420. – Bernama
