KUALA LUMPUR: A landslide was reported to have occurred at the foot of Mount Kinabalu in Mesilau, Kundasang this morning.

Berita Harian reported that the incident caused the water of the Mesilau River that flows into the Liwagu River in Ranau to turn muddy.

The incident is said to be almost the same as the mud flood after the 5.9 Richter scale earthquake centered on Mount Kinabalu in June 2015.

Head of the Ranau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), Ridwan Mohd Taib, said he got information about the incident based on a video clip that went viral on social media this morning.

He said, they then mobilized a fire brigade to the location to carry out monitoring.

“Immediate monitoring is carried out near the ruins to ensure the safety of the people in the nearby area.

“Monitoring is also done together with members of the Malaysian Civil Defense Force (APM),” he said.

However, he said, the incident did not involve any property damage.

He said, firemen are still inspecting near the location of the ruins.
