KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia fully supports all efforts to ensure that atrocities against the Palestinian people in Gaza end, including through a two-state solution.

According to Sinar Harian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan insisted that the support also involved agreeing to the ceasefire resolution brought by the United States (US) at the United Nations Security Council (UN) last June.

He explained that the resolution will be implemented through three phases, namely a permanent ceasefire, the influx of humanitarian aid and the release of hostages; the exchange of Palestinians and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces in Gaza as well as the reconstruction of Gaza.

“We want to see which way to ensure that the atrocities and killings against the Palestinian people can be stopped, on any platform.

“We fully support the proposals made including the Oslo Accords in 1993 in Washington and Taba, Egypt in 1995 to resolve the Palestinian issue.

“Malaysia supports any effort including resolving conflicts through a two-state solution,” he said during the Dewan Rakyat Session.

He said this in response to an additional question from Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang (PN-Marang) regarding the government’s intention to defend the sovereignty of the Palestinian people in Gaza.

In the meantime, Mohamad, who is also the Member of Parliament for Rembau, said that he had met with the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken to express his support for the proposed resolution.

“I also emphasized to Blinken to ensure that the US implements the proposal because they are allied with Israel.

“It is their responsibility to ensure that the allies meet and comply with the resolutions made,” he stated.
