Melaka State Election: ‘God Willing, We Can Win If We Get It Right’ – Tok Mat

MELAKA: Barisan Nasional (BN) can secure victory in the Melaka state election on November 14 if its planned strategies are implemented effectively, said UMNO Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

He said that besides having sound strategies, BN must ensure its party machinery executes its plans systematically, particularly in mobilising voters to cast their ballots on polling day.

“God willing, if we do things properly, we can win. It all depends on how we organise our strategies. The party machinery that has formulated these strategies must carry them out.

“Even a good strategy can fail if it is not implemented. I believe we have a good strategy for facing this election,” he said when met at the 10th National General Assembly of the National Solidarity Association (PerSoNa) here on Sunday.

Also present was PerSoNa National President Norshahida Salleh.

Mohamad, who is also Foreign Minister, said the party machinery must ensure that voters identified as BN supporters turn out to vote.

He stressed that even well-prepared plans on paper would not guarantee victory if the party machinery failed to mobilise voters.

“Similarly, in an election, we may draw up excellent strategies on paper, with many people categorised as confirmed BN supporters.

“But if we fail to get them out to vote, it means nothing because those votes will not make it into the ballot box,” he said.

Meanwhile, when asked whether issues in Negeri Sembilan could affect the Melaka state election, Mohamad said the two matters were not directly related.

“I will address that in Negeri Sembilan. I do not believe it has anything to do with Melaka,” he said.
