Rantau Panjang MP, Daughter Involved in Accident in Kuala Lipis
KUANTAN: Rantau Panjang Member of Parliament Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff sustained chest and abdominal injuries after being involved in an accident at Kilometre 7 of Jalan Lingkaran Tengah Utama in Kechau Tui, Kuala Lipis, yesterday afternoon.
Lipis District Police Chief Superintendent Ismail Man said the incident occurred at about 6 pm while Siti Zailah and her 26-year-old daughter were travelling in a sport utility vehicle (SUV) from Gua Musang, Kelantan, to Kuala Lumpur for work-related matters.
“Upon reaching the location, the driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle, causing it to spin before crashing into a road barrier on the right,” he said in a statement today.
He said Siti Zailah was taken to Kuala Lipis Hospital for further treatment, while her daughter escaped unhurt.
Ismail said the case was being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (LN 166/59).
He also urged members of the public who witnessed the accident to come forward and assist investigations.
Motorists were advised to always drive carefully and responsibly, and to ensure their vehicles are in good and safe condition.
