Haze: 38 Areas Record Unhealthy API Readings, Seremban Highest

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 38 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of this morning, with Seremban, Negeri Sembilan registering the highest reading at 187.

According to data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), Negeri Sembilan was among the worst-affected states, with Seremban recording an API reading of 187, followed by Nilai (184) and Port Dickson (173).

In Johor, several areas also recorded unhealthy readings, including Segamat (183), Tangkak (180), Pasir Gudang (176), Kluang (175), Batu Pahat (169), Larkin (169), Pengerang (167) and Kota Tinggi (162).

In Melaka, both Melaka City and Bukit Rambai recorded readings of 182, while Alor Gajah registered 177.

In Selangor, Johan Setia recorded a reading of 182, followed by Shah Alam (177), Petaling Jaya (169), Klang (168), Banting (168) and Kuala Selangor (123).

The Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur was also affected, with Batu Muda recording 172 and Cheras (170), while Putrajaya registered a reading of 171.

In Perak, Tasek Ipoh recorded a reading of 174, followed by Tanjung Malim (171), Pegoh Ipoh (169), Seri Manjung (158) and Taiping (130).

Meanwhile, several areas in Pahang also registered unhealthy readings, including Rompin (170), Indera Mahkota in Kuantan (162), Temerloh (154) and Balok Baru in Kuantan (152).

In the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia, Sungai Petani recorded a reading of 157 and Alor Setar (151) in Kedah, while Minden (153), Seberang Jaya (151) and Seberang Perai (122) in Penang were also at unhealthy levels.

Kemaman in Terengganu recorded a reading of 154.

However, all monitoring stations in Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan, Kelantan and parts of Terengganu continued to record API readings at moderate levels.

Under the APIMS classification, API readings between 101 and 200 are categorised as unhealthy, while readings between 51 and 100 are classified as moderate.

The public, particularly children, senior citizens and individuals with respiratory conditions, are advised to reduce outdoor activities and take appropriate health precautions as the haze persists.
