Budget 2027 to Be Tabled This Afternoon, Focusing on Balancing Public Assistance and Economic Reforms
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will table Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat today, with the presentation scheduled to begin at 3.30pm.
Budget 2027, which will be presented by Anwar in his capacity as Finance Minister, marks the fifth budget under the MADANI Government since its formation in 2022.
It is also the second budget under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), continuing to focus on the three main pillars of the MADANI Economy framework: raising the country’s economic growth potential, improving the people’s quality of life and strengthening governance reforms.
Previously, the Ministry of Finance said Budget 2027 had been formulated by taking into account the country’s short-term and long-term needs.
According to the ministry, the budget aims to protect Malaysians from the impact of the energy crisis and rising cost-of-living pressures while building the foundation for a more sophisticated, resilient and high-value economy in the future.
Budget 2027 carries the theme “Malaysia MADANI: Reaching for the Sky, Rooted in the Earth”, reflecting the government’s efforts to accelerate the country’s economic transformation through greater productivity and innovation.
Among the priorities expected to receive attention are accelerating the energy transition, strengthening food security, expanding the digital and artificial intelligence (AI) agenda, and developing a larger pool of highly skilled workers to meet the demands of the future economy.
The tabling of Budget 2027 is expected to attract significant attention from various stakeholders, including industry players, investors and the public, who are anticipating government measures to address current economic challenges and stimulate national growth amid an increasingly challenging global environment.
