‘Findings of Putra Heights Incident Investigation Ready, Awaiting Announcement’ – Mohd Najwan

SHAH ALAM: The findings of the investigation into the gas pipeline incident in Putra Heights have been obtained and are now awaiting an appropriate time to be announced.

Selangor State Executive Councillor for Disaster Management Mohd Najwan Halimi said the investigation conducted earlier had already produced its findings, but the announcement must go through the state government’s administrative procedures.

He said the matter had also been discussed at a meeting of the Selangor State Executive Council (MMKN).

“The investigation conducted previously has indeed produced findings. However, as to when they will be announced, we will wait for the Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, to make the announcement himself,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after the opening ceremony of the Selangor State Youth Convention at Dewan Raja Muda Musa, Section 7, here on Saturday.

Sinar Harian reported on Aug 17 that the Selangor government was expected to make a decision on the full disclosure of the explosion incident after the National Day celebrations.

The incident, which occurred on April 1 last year, caused extensive damage to a number of homes and vehicles in the affected area.

The issue of releasing the full report on the incident had previously drawn attention from residents and stakeholders who wanted to know the cause of the incident as well as the findings of the investigation.

Elaborating, Mohd Najwan said the announcement would be made once all relevant administrative procedures had been completed.

“We have concluded our discussions on this issue, and if there are any outstanding matters, we will try to resolve them,” he added.
