The Nenggiri state seat was announced to be vacant

KOTA BHARU – Kelantan State Assembly Speaker, Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah announced that the Nenggiri State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seat will be vacated starting today.

Berita Harian reported that the matter was announced by Kelantan State Assembly Speaker Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah at a press conference in his office, just now.

He said that the decision was made after the Kelantan state assembly received a written notice in accordance with clause (3) of Article 31A of the Constitution from Nenggiri state assemblyman Mohd Azizi Abu Naim on June 13 and Bersatu on June 12, who informed of the loss of membership. BERSATU and subsequently there will be a contingency vacancy of the seat.

“Therefore, I hereby declare in accordance with Clause 1 Article 31A that there is an emergency vacancy in the Nenggiri state assembly seat represented by Mohd Azizi.

“Thus according to Clause 4(4) Article 31A, vacant seats must be filled within 60 days from the date the Election Commission (SPR) receives the vacancy notice,” he said.

It also unraveled the development of the DUN seat issue after Mohd Azizi, BERSATU assemblyman who is also the Member of Parliament for Gua Musang previously pledged his support to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The media previously reported that six Members of Parliament and one BERSATU assemblyman had been stripped of their membership immediately.

They are Bukit Gantang Member of Parliament Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal, Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang) who is also the Nenggiri assemblyman, Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan ) and Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanafi (Tanjong Karang).

Another is the Klang Straits assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari.

It is after they failed to give any answer regarding the written instruction letter of the party’s Supreme Leadership Council (MPT) to express the pledge of loyalty to the party.
