Anwar Leaves Political Cooperation Talks, Including With BERSATU, to Amirudin

SHAH ALAM, Sept 20: Pakatan Harapan (PH) has entrusted its Election Director, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, with handling all discussions on political cooperation, including any involving BERSATU.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he did not wish to comment further on the matter for now, as it had been handed over to Amirudin for further action.

“(Discussions on cooperation, including with BERSATU) Amirudin will handle that,” he told the media after the Reformist Pioneers Reunion Hi-Tea at the Selangor International Trade Centre (SITC) today, as reported by Berita Harian.

Also present were the Prime Minister’s wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and Amirudin, who is also the Selangor Menteri Besar.

The development follows earlier reports that BERSATU President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had not ruled out the possibility of discussions on new political cooperation involving PH.

Muhyiddin was also reported to have confirmed that preliminary discussions had been held with several political parties in the country to explore cooperation ahead of the next general election.

Meanwhile, PH Communications Director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said the current political dynamics could lead to various political alignments, taking into account the unique political landscape of each state.

He said recent political developments could not be viewed through a single lens, as each state has its own unique characteristics and political dynamics.

Such developments can also be seen in Melaka, where the state PH is holding talks with parties that share similar aspirations, including BERSATU, to form a PH Plus cooperation ahead of the state election.

In the same development, the PH Plus approach in Melaka currently does not involve Barisan Nasional (BN), with the latest reports indicating that no negotiations have been held with the coalition so far.
