Kajang Prison, Najib’s Residence Draw Media Attention Following Conditional Pardon

Media personnel gathered at the location were instructed to wait in a designated area about 10 metres from the prison’s main gate.

As of 12.30 pm, the situation at Kajang Prison was reported to be under control, with no movement involving Najib detected at the facility’s main entrance.

Meanwhile, Najib’s residence in Jalan Langgak Duta also became the focus of media attention shortly after news of the conditional pardon was announced to the public.

More than 50 local and international media personnel were seen gathering around the residence to obtain the latest developments regarding the implementation of the order.

Several police vehicles were also stationed in the area to monitor the situation and ensure that everything remained orderly.

Earlier, the Legal Affairs Division (BHEUU) of the Prime Minister’s Department announced that Sultan Ibrahim had granted Najib a conditional pardon, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028.

According to BHEUU, the implementation of the order is subject to Najib paying a RM50 million fine.

The decision was made at the 64th Pardons Board Meeting for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya, held at Istana Negara today.
