Abdul Aziz Appointed Deputy Inspector – General of Police
PUTRAJAYA: Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Management Department Director Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid has been appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police, effective Sept 9.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the appointment received the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim on the advice of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the recommendation of the Police Force Commission, in accordance with Clauses 4 and 5 of Article 140 of the Federal Constitution.
“Based on his expertise and extensive experience in policing, Abdul Aziz possesses the competence and strong leadership qualities required to serve as Deputy Inspector-General of Police.
“The government extends its congratulations to him on his appointment,” Saifuddin Nasution said in a statement today.
Abdul Aziz, 59, was born on Feb 19, 1967, in Penaga, Penang, and holds a Master of Social Science degree in Policing Studies from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
He joined PDRM on July 1, 1995, and has served in various departments throughout his career, including the Management Department, Special Branch, Criminal Investigation Department, Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, Commercial Crime Investigation Department, Logistics and Technology Department, as well as the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department.
Drawing on his extensive experience and expertise in policing, Abdul Aziz has held several strategic positions, including Management Department Director, Special Branch Deputy Director, Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department Deputy Director, Penang Deputy Police Chief, Principal Assistant Director of Policy/Resources Management and Principal Assistant Director of the Integrated Special Investigation Team.
Abdul Aziz has also attended various international courses and seminars, including the 8th International Symposium of Best Police Practice in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and the Intelligence Management Development Programme in Australia.
