PETALING JAYA: A total of 11 victims of the food poisoning case in Gombak last Saturday are still receiving treatment for Salmonella bacterial infection, said Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad.

According to Bernama, he said that all the victims were in a stable condition and did not show any serious symptoms.

He said that through tests, the Ministry of Health (KKM) found that the poisoning was caused by Salmonella, but this case was unique because it became acute earlier.

“Usually it will take six to eight hours (to show symptoms) but in this case, within two hours, some died.

“It means it may be Salmonella poisoning with high toxicity,” he said at a press conference in Kuala Selangor.

On June 11, Selangor Health Director Dr Ummi Kalthom Shamsudin said, 82 out of 247 people experienced symptoms of food poisoning after eating breakfast at the Islamic Charity Skills Program (Kamil).

He said that the poisoning was suspected to be caused by fried vermicelli and egg yolks that had allegedly changed in appearance and taste.

Dzulkefly today also ordered that sellers and buyers continue to be careful from the food aspect, especially involving online products.

“Although most online products are long-lasting products, we still need to practice close inspection such as look, smell and taste,” he said.
