Be patient and believe, Chong Wei tells Faisal Halim

KUALA LUMPUR: National badminton legend Datuk Lee Chong Wei was emotionally impacted by the heartbreaking press conference given by the nippy Selangor FC winger, Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halim, also known as Faisal Halim.

Chong Wei encouraged Faisal Halim, commonly known as Mickey, to remain strong in his Instagram story, stating that everything happens for a reason. 

“You will be back even stronger. ‘Sabar’ (be patient) and believe. Focus on recovery and we await your return, Faisal,” he posted.

After being attacked with acid by an unidentified attacker at a Petaling Jaya mall in May, Faisal Halim made his first public appearance yesterday. He disclosed that he had considered quitting football and losing his large salary as a result of the sad event.

The athlete, who was born in Penang and had fourth-degree burns on several body parts, claimed that the acid attack had a profound impact on his life.

The 26-year-old said that he was unable to perform many tasks on his own and required assistance from his family, particularly his wife, for necessities like eating and using the loo.

Following the incident, the winger underwent four surgeries and was eventually released from a private hospital, as confirmed by a statement released by Selangor FC on May 25. – BERNAMA
