KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim expressed his hope that the National Day celebration tomorrow will go smoothly, with all parties involved giving their best efforts to ensure its success.
According to a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s Facebook page today, His Majesty said this after granting an audience to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Istana Bukit Tunku here.
“I hope the independence celebration goes smoothly and I cannot wait to witness all parties involved giving their best efforts in commemorating this very important event in our nation’s history,” His Majesty said.
During the meeting, His Majesty was also apprised of various current developments in the country, including preparations for the National Day celebration.
Anwar is scheduled to deliver the National Day Address at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), Putrajaya this afternoon and announce several important measures that touch upon the concerns and lives of the people.
The 69th National Day celebration, themed “Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati” (Malaysia MADANI: Prosperity Enjoyed), is scheduled to begin at 8 am tomorrow at Dataran Putrajaya, with the participation of 10,819 parade participants involving 76 contingents and 22 brass bands.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah are scheduled to grace the celebration, which will also be attended by Anwar and the Cabinet line-up.
