RCI Tabung Haji: Former TH CEO Remanded for Additional Four Days
PUTRAJAYA: The former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tabung Haji (TH) has been remanded for an additional four days to assist in investigations following the revelations in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report regarding the institution.
The extended remand order, issued by Magistrate Ezrene Zakariah, begins on Friday and lasts until August 31.
The remand extension for the man in his 60s was applied for by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
This follows the expiry of the one-week remand order for the man today, after he was arrested by the MACC on August 21.
The former TH CEO, along with the former Chairman of the TH Board, who is also a politician with the title Datuk Seri, arrived at the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court at 9.30 am on Thursday for the remand proceedings.
Another individual who also faced the same proceedings is the former Secretary-General of the Treasury at the Ministry of Finance (MOF), who holds the title Tan Sri.
All of them arrived in handcuffs, wearing the orange MACC remand uniforms.
The remand process for the former TH Board Chairman and the former Secretary-General of the Treasury followed their arrest at 4 pm on Wednesday, after they were ordered to present themselves at the MACC Headquarters in Putrajaya.
On August 14, seven individuals were detained by the MACC to assist in the investigation related to the RCI.
They consist of a former chief executive officer of a shipping company, a director of a construction company, a former company director, and four former senior management members of TH.
