BN Cooperation with Other Parties Will Be Decided This Friday – Akmal Saleh

MELAKA: Barisan Nasional (BN)’s cooperation with any party, whether Perikatan Nasional (PN) or Pakatan Harapan (PH), for the Melaka State Election (PRN) will be decided in UMNO’s Supreme Council (MT) meeting this Friday.

UMNO Youth Chief, Datuk Dr. Muhamad Akmal Saleh said, the matter is among the main agendas expected to be discussed in the meeting, including involving the direction of political cooperation in Melaka.

According to him, UMNO Youth will also be involved in the discussion as the movement is part of UMNO’s Political Bureau.

“Let us wait for the 28th at the MKT (Supreme Council Meeting). God willing, there will be a good decision for everyone in Melaka later. Among the agendas will be discussed there,” he said when met in conjunction with the 2026 Darjah, Bintang and Pingat Kebesaran Negeri Melaka Conferment Ceremony in conjunction with the Official Celebration of the 77th Birthday of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Melaka at Balai Istiadat Seri Negeri, Ayer Keroh, here, yesterday.

Commenting on Youth’s involvement in political cooperation negotiations, Muhamad Akmal said, the matter will indeed involve the movement.

“UMNO Youth is part of UMNO’s Political Bureau. So it is certain that it will involve the Youth movement as well,” he said.

Meanwhile, Muhamad Akmal said, the 2026 UMNO General Assembly (PAU), scheduled to take place over four days from September 9 to 12, will also focus on the party’s preparations for the upcoming General Election (GE).

He said, among the matters to be discussed are the proposed manifesto that UMNO will bring for the upcoming GE, including obtaining the views of Youth delegates from across the country.

“We will hear from the delegates what the aspirations of Youth nationwide are for us to bring and make part of our manifesto later,” he said.
