KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, held a telephone conversation with Pakistan Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, who inquired about his health condition.

Anwar said he appreciates the prayers as well as the flowers and fruits sent by Shehbaz, besides informing that he is now in the recovery process.

“I managed to speak via telephone with Pakistan Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, who inquired about my health condition,” Anwar said in a post on his social media.

During the conversation, both leaders also exchanged views on current developments in the region and agreed that all tensions must be handled carefully through dialogue and diplomacy.

According to Anwar, both parties also discussed the developments in Iran-United States relations and stressed the importance of continued engagement to ease tensions.

“The Strait of Hormuz must also remain open and safe to ensure the smooth flow of international trade,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said Malaysia and Pakistan agreed to intensify trade and economic cooperation which still has great potential to be explored, including expanding Pakistan’s meat exports to Malaysia.

Anwar said all commitments achieved must be immediately translated into tangible results that benefit both countries.

“Malaysia will continue to support Pakistan as a friend and important partner, God willing,” he said.
