TH Issue Only a “Diversion”, Political Attacks Meant to Shift Focus From Real Issues – Razak Boss

KUALA LUMPUR: The controversy surrounding Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) and the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) has allegedly been turned into political ammunition to tarnish the image of UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) ahead of the upcoming elections.

UMNO Kepong division chief Tpr Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman said that, to date, no UMNO or BN leader had been charged or convicted of any offence involving criminal breach of trust in relation to the institution.

He said the series of attacks against agencies previously led by BN, including TH, FELDA, FELCRA and MARA, were expected as an attempt to divert public attention from alleged shortcomings in the current administration.

“Despite the various allegations being levelled, the RCI report itself does not establish that there was abuse of power or corruption on the part of BN.

“Instead, the ‘sakau’ narrative continues to be pushed, while key questions surrounding the sale of TH assets to Urusharta Jamaah Sdn Bhd (UJSB) and the disposal of subsidiaries such as Theta Edge remain unanswered transparently,” he said during a ‘Sembang Kopi’ interview.

Razak also questioned Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s absence during the previous parliamentary debate on the TH RCI, claiming that attempts were being made to recycle old issues to divert attention from other matters, including those involving the Retirement Fund Incorporated (KWAP).

He urged UMNO leaders to remain prepared to counter what he described as continued political attacks, expressing confidence that Malaysians were becoming increasingly discerning in assessing facts rather than relying on perceptions.

Razak said the party should continue to present facts and clarify issues to ensure that public discourse was not dominated by political narratives.
