Body in Suitcase: Victim’s Fingerprints Sent for Identification

KUALA KANGSAR: Police will send the fingerprint samples of a woman whose body was found in a suitcase in Sungai Perak near the Lembah Valley Jetty here last Friday, for checks to identify her identity.

Kuala Kangsar District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Heisham Harun said, to date the identity of the woman has not yet been identified as no identification documents were found with the body.

“(Whether she is a foreigner or a local) has not yet been determined.

“However, we will send the victim’s fingerprints for checks to identify her identity,” he said here today.

Meanwhile, Heisham said, the victim is believed to have died more than a day ago based on her physical condition when found.

He said, so far investigations have also not found any new clues that could help identify the victim or trace the suspect involved.

“No new clues or missing person reports that could be linked to the discovery of the victim’s body have been found so far,” he said.

Earlier, media reported that the body of a woman was found stuffed in a suitcase wrapped in plastic sheeting in Sungai Perak last Friday.

The torn suitcase was found by a ferry boat driver following the shallow water level of the river.

Preliminary investigations found that the victim is believed to be in her 30s and died as a result of murder.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
