Anwar Gives Full Mandate to Saifuddin Nasution to Carry Out Duties as PKR Deputy President

MELAKA: PKR President, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, today gave full mandate to Vice President, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to carry out the duties of the party’s Deputy President.

He said, although the new duty is seen as burdensome to Saifuddin Nasution, the step must be undertaken by the Home Minister as the incumbent, Nurul Izzah Anwar, will be on leave temporarily.

“So, I think my long-time friend, the most loyal, the one I know and understand best (with my way of working), should continue the work as Deputy President.

“I hope with this announcement, the entire strength of Keadilan will give full support, cooperation and obedience to him,” Anwar said when delivering his closing speech on the final day of the PKR National Congress 2026 at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC), Ayer Keroh, here, today.

Meanwhile, Anwar announced that another Vice President, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, has been appointed as the party’s Election Director, while Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz has been appointed as Coordinator at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Commenting on the leadership position in Negeri Sembilan, Anwar asked Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun to give his full focus to his duties as Vice President of the party as well as the training portfolio to empower new PKR members.

He said, the extensive experience of the former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar is much needed in steering the party’s cadre agenda at various levels.

“Saudara Aminuddin is still needed; experience should teach him and teach us. Saudara (Aminuddin), focus on your duties as Vice President and provide the best training to our young members; that is your new duty,” he said.

Anwar said he will answer for himself the demands of six PKR Branch Chiefs in Negeri Sembilan who are urging a reassessment of Aminuddin’s position as Chairman of the Negeri Sembilan PKR State Leadership Council (MPN).

The Prime Minister said the defeat of PKR in the Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN) on August 1 should not be pinned solely on Aminuddin, but must be borne collectively.

“So, let us accept that reality to improve the mistakes; hopefully we can improve again (the party’s performance),” he said.
