KUCHING: AirBorneo Airways Sdn Bhd (AirBorneo) announces its participation in the implementation of FLYsiswa, a government air travel subsidy initiative led by the Ministry of Transport (MOT).

The FLYsiswa initiative helps eligible students travel between Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan through digital vouchers worth RM400 for their domestic economy flight tickets.

AirBorneo in a statement today informed that through this initiative, they aim to bridge the geographical gap and ease the financial burden faced by students at public universities, polytechnics, community colleges and matriculation colleges as well as teacher training institutes.

“By leveraging AirBorneo’s growing regional network and flight frequencies, students can now plan their return journeys during semester breaks, festive seasons and emergencies without being burdened by high travel costs,” according to the statement.

AirBorneo Chief Executive Officer Megat Ardian Wira Mohd Aminuddin said the journey of pursuing knowledge requires focus, dedication and peace of mind.

“For many young Malaysians studying far from home, especially between Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo, the cost of flight tickets should not be a barrier to spending quality time with family.

“Our participation in FLYsiswa reflects our obligation towards community welfare,” he said.

Those registered at public higher education institutions can check their eligibility through the official MOT portal (subsidiudara.mot.gov.my) and redeem the RM400 FLYsiswa digital voucher directly when booking flights through the official AirBorneo website and mobile application.

The voucher redemption period for AirBorneo flights begins from today until November 30, 2026, with bookings valid for travel dates up to December 31 this year.
