BANGKOK: The atmosphere on a plane from Malaysia to Bangkok turned chaotic when a man acted out of control, pacing the cabin aisle while repeatedly shouting for the plane to land.

The situation grew more tense when the man, identified as an officer of the Royal Thai Army, was reported to have attempted to open the aircraft door during the flight heading to Don Mueang International Airport.

A video recording lasting approximately five minutes, which has gone viral since Sunday, shows two cabin crew members struggling to restrain the man before successfully controlling him and forcing him to sit back down in his seat.

Citing a Bangkok Post report, the man’s hands were then tied behind his back as a safety measure to prevent any action that could endanger other passengers.

However, the man continued shouting and repeatedly uttered the word ‘landing’, in addition to using profanities.

In the same recording, the man was also heard speaking in Thai unintelligibly before switching to English.

“No one can choose what they are born to be. This is the best in our lives. We all need to talk. I’m sorry, I’m sorry everybody,” he said before returning to shouting ‘landing’ repeatedly.

Towards the end of the recording, the man was seen crying and being calmed down by cabin crew, but turned aggressive again.

Meanwhile, the Spokesperson for the Thai Ministry of Defence, Rear Admiral Surasant Kongsiri, confirmed that the man is a Lieutenant serving at the Office of Policy and Planning of the ministry.

He said, the officer is undergoing treatment for mental health issues and experienced a recurring episode during the flight.

As soon as the plane landed, the man was taken to Phramongkutklao Hospital in Bangkok for observation and further treatment.
