Bus stops for Rumah Selangorku encourage residents to use public transport

SABAK BERNAM: Every development of Rumah Selangorku Idaman and Rumah Selangorku Harapan will be equipped with at least one bus stop to ensure residents have easy access to public transport.

Housing EXCO, Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said the facility is important especially for developments that have a high number of residential units, besides being able to encourage residents to use public transport to go to workplaces and other destinations.

He said, the provision of comfortable bus stops that are sheltered from the weather is also part of the basic facilities that need to be given attention in affordable housing development.

“This is a good effort because when the Rumah Selangorku settlement is in a housing estate, it certainly has a large number of houses and we encourage them to use public vehicles.

“So if there are no facilities, not providing such as a bus stop for them to pass without getting rained on, this may cause an impact to facilitate them to go to work or anywhere else,” he said.

He said this after officiating the Heritage Programme in the Kitchen Uniting the Flavours of Javanese, Banjar and Bugis Cuisine at the district level of Sabak Bernam at Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Sekinchan, here yesterday.

The day before yesterday, when presenting the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2) at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly, Dato’ Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced that the State Government will mandate at least one bus stop in every area of Rumah Selangorku Idaman and Rumah Selangorku Harapan.

That step aims to ensure affordable home owners also gain access to public transport, thus supporting efforts to expand the use of public transport among the community.

In a related development, Borhan said the State Government has also identified several locations to add rental housing units under the Smart Rental Scheme.

“We have identified locations and will present them to give priority to which areas first, such as affordable homes and low-cost flats,” he said.

The day before yesterday, Amirudin also informed that the State Government targets the number of rental housing units under the Smart Rental Scheme to be increased to 3,000 units by 2030, especially for those who are still unable to obtain housing loans from financial institutions.
