PKR Rejects Nurul Izzah’s Resignation

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR’s Central Leadership Council (MPP) has rejected Nurul Izzah Anwar’s resignation as the party’s deputy president.

PKR Communications Director, Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said that the MPP only agreed to grant her temporary leave, which begins after the 2026 National Congress until a date to be announced.

“The MPP has decided not to accept her resignation or withdrawal, because she requested time as stated in her own statement, among others, to manage herself and also to complete and continue her PhD studies.

“So we are giving her time, and the duties and responsibilities of the deputy president, the functions of the deputy president will be carried out by the vice presidents,” he said when met by reporters during the Safe Internet PIBG Convention here today.

Previously, Nurul Izzah, who is also a former Permatang Pauh Member of Parliament, had applied to withdraw from the position of PKR Deputy President.

Fahmi meanwhile said that the party’s operations and activities are not affected following the decision, and Nurul Izzah remains a PKR member and will continue to assist the party.

“So work continues as usual. Nurul Izzah remains a party member and will continue to assist the party in its struggle, it is not a problem,” he added.
