Danish Iftikhar Eighth in 100m at World U20 Athletics Championships

KUALA LUMPUR: National young sprint prodigy, Danish Iftikhar Muhammad Roslee concluded his campaign at the 2026 World Athletics Under‑20 (U20) Championships in Oregon, United States, by finishing eighth in the men’s 100 metres (m) event today.

Danish clocked 10.44 seconds (s) in the medal race, thus closing a highly commendable campaign for himself.

The gold medal went to United States representative, Tate Taylor, who recorded a personal best (PB) of 9.94s, followed by Gary Card from Jamaica who took silver with 10.05s, while bronze went to Marko Ferreira from South Africa with 10.16s.

Although he did not manage to step onto the podium, Danish’s achievement still deserves praise after displaying consistent performances throughout the championship.

Previously, the 19‑year‑old runner recorded a season’s best (SB) of 10.30s in the heats before securing his ticket to the final with 10.36s in the semi‑finals.

The performance displayed in Oregon is also a positive sign for the young athlete, who is expected to continue being among the country’s main athletics prospects in major events in the future.
