Husband and Wife Reported Missing Arrested After Surrendering

JITRA: The husband and wife who were reported missing since 20 July last finally came forward to surrender before being arrested by police at the Kubang Pasu District Police Headquarters (IPD) early Thursday morning.

Kubang Pasu District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahim said that the couple, aged 39 and 36, came forward to surrender at 1.50 am before being arrested to assist in the investigation.

According to him, both of them are expected to be brought to the Jitra Court on Thursday morning for a remand application.

Previously, the media reported that the couple, together with their child, were reported missing after leaving their residence at Taman Desa Bayanmas, Bukit Kayu Hitam and could not be contacted by family members.

Their disappearance prompted the father of the 36‑year‑old woman to make a report at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Police Station after failing to locate his daughter, son‑in‑law and grandchild.

In a related development on Wednesday, police informed that they received a report from a 23‑year‑old man who claimed to have suffered a loss of RM25,000 due to a rotating savings fund (hutang kutu) transaction believed to be linked to the woman involved.

Mohd Radzi said that the report was made by the man who claimed to be a victim in the said transaction.

The case is now being investigated by police to identify the connection between the couple’s disappearance and the allegations involving the rotating savings fund debt, while further investigations are still ongoing.
