Free LRT Shah Alam Line Service Extended Until 14 August

SHAH ALAM: The free service period for the 37.8-kilometre (km) Shah Alam Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) and its feeder buses, which began on 29 June, has been extended until 14 August.

Rapid KL in a statement said the extension is expected to give more users the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the new transport system, besides providing convenience in accessing the Shah Alam Line.

“Throughout this period, the public can enjoy free travel using the Shah Alam Line service, including its feeder bus services and ‘Park n’ Ride’ facilities at stations.

“This will also encourage the use of public transport as the primary choice for daily travel,” it said here today.

The statement added that the free period extension is also expected to provide benefits such as reducing daily travel costs, while increasing public confidence in the efficiency and comfort of the country’s public transport system.

In June, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, when launching the opening of the Shah Alam Line LRT, was reported to have announced the free public transport service until today.

The public transport links from Johan Setia in Klang to Bandar Utama in Damansara through 20 stations, which also crosses Shah Alam City and Klang.

Meanwhile, Rapid KL in the same statement informed that the public is advised to comply with all rules and guidelines set in planning their journeys to ensure smooth travel.

“Throughout the free travel period, thousands of users have already enjoyed an easier, faster and more comfortable experience. Your support is greatly appreciated,” it said.
