KUALA LUMPUR: Yesterday evening, a fire broke out in a Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) substation located in Kepong.

According to a statement from the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) Operations Centre, a call regarding the event was received around 7:14 p.m.

The details of the report, 13 firefighters from the Jinjang and Menjalara Fire and Rescue Stations were sent to the scene, which was next to a church on Jalan Burung Hantu, in two fire engines.

It was a TNB substation transformer that caught fire.

Electrical currents at the site made direct extinguishing operations difficult, thus the “cooling method” was employed instead,” the statement said.

At 9:21 p.m., foam was used to put out the fire, and while TNB officials are on the way, overhaul work is being done.

The statement said, “The cause of the incident is still under investigation.” – BERNAMA
