JOHOR BAHRU: Former Education Minister Dr. Maszlee Malik, representing Pakatan Harapan, successfully won the Puteri Wangsa State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seat in the 16th Johor State Election (PRN) on Saturday.
Based on the official results announced by the Election Commission, Maszlee obtained 41,821 votes with a majority of 5,744 votes.
He defeated four other contenders, namely Barisan Nasional candidate Teow Chia Ling; Nicholas Paul Vincent (Parti Bersama); Rashifa Aljunied (MUDA); and Wang Wee Seong (Independent).
In the 2022 Johor State Election, the Puteri Wangsa state seat was won by Amira Aisya Abdul Aziz from MUDA with a majority of 7,114 votes. However, she did not contest to defend the seat in this state election, instead giving way to Rashifa.
