HULU LANGAT: The demolition of the multi-storey dwellings that were illegally built in Kampung Baru Sungai Makau, Hulu Langat, has been fully completed.

Hulu Langat District Officer, Dato’ Mohd Jusni Hashim said that the landowner is now continuing with cleaning work and removing construction waste at the site.

“The settlement had been vacated by the Rohingya community for some time. However, the building remained before demolition work was carried out together with the landowner,” he said.

Speaking after officiating the Selangor Resilient Women Tour 2026 Hulu Langat Zone yesterday, he said that his office will conduct periodic monitoring to ensure that no more buildings are erected without permission.

“With the complete demolition, we found that there are no longer any of them in this area, but we feel they will move to other areas.

“We will from time to time examine areas that are expected to become new settlements. However, this matter is more for discussion at a higher level, namely the federal level, because they are holders of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) cards,” he said.

Previously, Dato’ Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari stressed that the issue of multi-storey dwellings that were illegally erected was not a new matter, but had gone through various enforcement processes since 2016.

He explained that various measures had been taken by government agencies including the issuance of warning notices, compounds, integrated operations, investigations, and enforcement according to the provisions of the law.

According to Amirudin, the action involved several agencies including the Hulu Langat District and Land Office (PDT), Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj), Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Malaysian Immigration Department, as well as demolition operations against structures built without permission.
