Woman Using Another’s MyKad Among 86 Illegal Immigrants Detained In Klang

KLANG: A woman suspected of using a MyKad belonging to another individual was among 86 illegal immigrants (PATI) detained during the Mega Integrated Operation at Plaza GM, Bandar Botanik here on Wednesday.

The operation, which began at 5 p.m., was carried out in collaboration with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM), the National Registration Department (JPN), and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), involving 125 enforcement officers.

JIM in a statement informed that the operation was conducted based on intelligence and public complaints gathered over two weeks.

According to the statement, inspections of 50 business premises and 327 individuals led to the detention of 86 foreign nationals from China, Cambodia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan for allegedly committing various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963.

“During the operation, several foreign nationals attempted to flee, but the attempt was successfully thwarted through coordination among the operation team and the use of drones to monitor exit routes,” the statement read.

In the same operation, JIM also issued 11 Form 29 (Summonses) to Malaysian citizens to assist with investigations.

JPN, meanwhile, detained a woman suspected of using an identity card belonging to another individual to be investigated under the National Registration Act 1959 (Act 78).

All detained foreign nationals have been placed at the Immigration Detention Depot for investigation and further action.

JIM stressed that no compromise will be given to any foreign nationals who enter the country illegally, overstay their permitted period, or misuse facility passes.

According to the statement, stern action will also be taken against employers, premises owners, or individuals who employ, shelter, or conspire with illegal immigrants.
