Continue Saving in Simpan SSPN
KUALA LUMPUR: An electronics engineer never expected that his efforts to continue saving through the National Education Savings Scheme (Simpan SSPN) after completing his studies would pay off handsomely when he was announced as the Grand Prize winner of the Simpan SSPN Baru Slay! Draw, Slay 1 Category, recently.
Heaw Zi Bin, 29, said when he received the call informing him that he had been selected as a winner, he initially thought it was a scam.
“When I first received the call about this news, I thought it was a scammer. However, after being informed further, it turned out that I had indeed won the prize.
“I am truly happy because I never imagined winning a prize like this. I am currently working in Penang, but I took leave to return to Seremban to receive the prize together with my family,” he said.
The prize, a Yamaha NVX 155 motorcycle, was presented by the Chief Executive of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid, at the Heaw family home in Seremban, recently.
Heaw said he never aimed to win any category of the draw and only saved because the Simpan SSPN account offers many benefits.
“Actually, since I was young, my parents had already opened a Simpan SSPN account for me, right up until I studied at a higher education institution.
“After finishing my studies and starting work, I resumed saving in Simpan SSPN at the age of 23 until now because I feel that Simpan SSPN is good for future savings,” he said.
Commenting on the motorcycle he won, the youngest of four siblings said he is excited to own the scooter.
Another winner of the Simpan SSPN Plus 2026 WOW! Draw for the WOW! Plus Series 1 Category, who works as a programmer, Iun Ying Chian, 39, also admitted that she almost did not believe the news of her win.
According to her, she only became convinced after checking the official PTPTN portal.
“I was really shocked. At first, I thought, did I really win? So I immediately checked the official PTPTN portal before believing it,” she said.
The mother of two said her savings in Simpan SSPN were specifically set aside to provide for her children’s education fund, besides being attracted by the competitive dividends, low investment risk, tax relief and the takaful protection offered through Simpan SSPN Plus.
She said the prize she won would not be spent, but would instead be kept in her Simpan SSPN account so that the savings could continue to generate dividends.
“I am saving for my children’s education. So this prize, I will also save back into the account so that it can continue to generate dividends,” she said.
She also encouraged more parents to open accounts and save in Simpan SSPN, as it not only helps build their children’s education savings but also offers the opportunity to enjoy various benefits, including competitive dividends, takaful protection, tax relief and the chance to participate in prize draws.
In an effort to encourage more people to cultivate the habit of saving through Simpan SSPN Prime, PTPTN, as an agency under the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT), has also launched the Prime Bonanza Draw Campaign.
Running until 31 October 2026, this draw offers total prizes of nearly RM500,000 to 106 winners across two categories: Platinum and Gold.
For the Platinum category, the grand prize is a Jaecoo J7 2WD PHEV, in addition to RM50,000, RM30,000 in cash, as well as 50 consolation prizes of RM1,000.
Meanwhile, the Gold category offers a Proton X50 Flagship as the grand prize, followed by RM30,000, RM10,000 in cash and 50 consolation prizes of RM500.
Ahmad Dasuki said depositors only need to open an account or make additional savings in their Simpan SSPN Prime account throughout the campaign period.
“Every net savings of RM100 entitles depositors to 10 draw entries, while savings made through the myPTPTN app, salary deductions or direct debit will receive 20 entries.
“This campaign is a manifestation of PTPTN’s ongoing commitment in appreciating the trust and loyalty of depositors who choose Simpan SSPN Prime as their education savings instrument.
“In addition to offering attractive rewards, this campaign is also hoped to serve as a catalyst to encourage more parents and the public to cultivate the habit of saving consistently as early preparation for financing their children’s higher education,” he said.
