YDPA’s Governance Partnership with Anwar’s Administration Fosters Unity, Johor’s Economy – Analyst
KUALA LUMPUR: The partnership between the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has successfully brought Johor to its best level in terms of political stability, leading to a high degree of unity and economic growth rate.
Senior Lecturer at the Department of Administrative and Political Studies, University of Malaya, Dr Mohamad Tawfik Yaakub, said Johor today is at a very important phase in the context of its politics, administration and economy.
He said the state’s success did not happen by chance but was born out of a stable leadership atmosphere, harmonious institutional relationships and the confidence of the people and investors in the country’s direction.
“Johor and Malaysia today can be considered fortunate to be under the patronage of two leadership institutions that share the same direction, which is to see the state and the country progress in a more stable, orderly and trusted manner.
“Firstly, through the touch and authority of Sultan Ibrahim’s leadership as the umbrella of national unity and stability. His Majesty not only brings a strong experience of Johor’s governance but also presents leadership that is close to the people, firm in safeguarding the country’s interests and clear in emphasising unity as the foundation of progress.
“At the same time, it cannot be denied that the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has placed emphasis on political stability, investor confidence and more orderly economic development,” he said in a statement today.
According to Dr Mohamad Tawfik, when the Royal institution and the government work hand in hand on a platform of mutual understanding to manage the country’s administration, this situation radiates a strong signal of stability to the people.
He said this simultaneously increases investor confidence that Malaysia is a peaceful, trustworthy country with a bright economic future.
He explained that Johor is a very clear example; the state is not only important from a political perspective but is also increasingly prominent as Malaysia’s new economic engine.
“Its proximity to Singapore, infrastructure development and robust investment inflows make Johor one of the most strategic states in determining the country’s economic future.
“More interestingly, political stability in Johor has helped build a more mature atmosphere of unity,” he said.
Elaborating further, he said the people today do not only look at development through physical projects alone, but are anticipating the spillover benefits from leadership that knows how to maintain relations between the palace, the Federal Government, the state government and the community.
“This is Johor’s true strength through a respected royal tradition, stable administration and a continuously growing economy.
“As such, Johor’s success today should be seen as the result of a combination of the wisdom of the Royal institution, national leadership that prioritises stability, as well as the state government’s ability to translate policies into benefits for the people.
“If this momentum continues to be preserved, Johor will not only remain an important state in Malaysian politics, but will also emerge as a model of stability, unity and economic growth for other states,” he said.
