Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has announced that his government will mobilise “all available capacities” to further modernise and strengthen the country’s Armed Forces, emphasising enhanced defence readiness and national security amid ongoing regional tensions.
Speaking during a meeting with Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Army Major General Amir Hatami on Thursday, Pezeshkian praised the military’s performance, describing its response to recent US-Israeli actions as “decisive, intelligent, and deterrent”.
He commended the Iranian Armed Forces, particularly the army, for what he called their bravery, sacrifice, and operational effectiveness in confronting external pressures. According to the president, the military demonstrated strong command coordination, intelligence capability, and combat readiness during recent developments, preventing adversaries from achieving their objectives.
Pezeshkian stressed that the Armed Forces play a central role in safeguarding Iran’s territorial integrity and ensuring national stability. He described their contribution to deterrence and defence as “strategic and essential”, especially under current regional conditions.
Reaffirming government commitment, he said the administration stands fully behind the military’s strategic programmes, including modernisation of equipment, improvement of logistics, expansion of infrastructure, and overall enhancement of defence capabilities.
He also highlighted the importance of coordination between civilian institutions and the Armed Forces, stating that national unity, preparedness, and strong military authority are key pillars of Iran’s security framework in the face of hybrid threats.
During the meeting, Major General Hatami briefed the president on the army’s current operational status and recent defensive measures. He detailed military responses carried out during recent confrontations and emphasised continued high readiness across all units.
Hatami added that Iran’s army is undergoing ongoing restructuring and capability enhancement during the current ceasefire period, focusing on improved coordination, training, and modernisation of combat systems.
He reiterated that Iranian forces remain fully prepared to respond decisively to any future threats, stressing their commitment to defending the country’s independence, security, and territorial integrity without hesitation.
