Jho Low Investigation Still Ongoing: IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: Jho Low, also known as rogue financier Low Taek Jho, is still being looked into, even though it has been said that he has tried to get a pardon from US President Donald Trump, according to Bukit Aman.

The head of the police force, Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, stated this when they met after the end of the Special Dialogue (PSD V) 2026 on May 13, 2026. The situation is still being looked into. “I think it’s rude to talk about things like this,” he said.

He said that the police have kept positive ties with countries that are important to their investigations.
Reports say that a note on the website of the US Justice Department said Jho Low had asked for a pardon earlier this year.

In reaction, the head of the 1MDB task force, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, said he was strongly against letting Jho Low go free. “I am strongly against it,” he said. “He should be sent back to Malaysia so that he can be tried and investigated further,” he said when asked.

The Wall Street Journal says that Jho Low recently asked for a pardon, which would mean that he would no longer be charged with a crime in the US if it were granted.

News reports said that a White House source said Low’s request was not being thought about at this time.
In the past, the government said they thought Low was in China, but Beijing rejected this.
