Kuala Lumpur: The 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Malaysia will be celebrated next year, marking an important turning point in the two nations’ relations, according to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
His Majesty stated in a Facebook post for the monarchy that the two countries’ cooperation has grown steadily since 1967, maturing into a robust and fruitful alliance.

The Sultan of Brunei met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St Petersburg at the beginning of January, and according to him, the meeting was productive and fruitful because the two leaders shared a desire to take bilateral relations to the next level. He stated that a meaningful and historic celebration should be held to commemorate the long road that the two countries have travelled together and the significant achievements in relations between the Russian Federation and Malaysia.

While meeting with Putin in the Kremlin on Saturday (May 9), Sultan Ibrahim made this statement.

Putin greeted His Majesty with tremendous warmth when he arrived at the Kremlin earlier.

By inviting Putin to make a state visit to Malaysia in 2027, coinciding with the diamond jubilee of diplomatic ties between the two nations, Sultan Ibrahim humbly reciprocated the offer and honour extended by the Russian Federation.
The head of state expressed his hope that the visit will provide a fresh impetus for enhancing the strategic partnership that Russia and Malaysia have developed over the past sixty years.
