KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s strength is rooted in its rich cultural diversity, traditions, and communities, which serve as the foundation of national unity and resilience, said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Speaking at the Visit Malaysia 2026 Vaisakhi Festival, Anwar emphasized that Malaysia’s diversity should not be seen as a challenge to manage but rather as a strength to be celebrated collectively.
He highlighted that the country’s multicultural fabric plays a vital role in fostering togetherness, strengthening national identity, and uniting Malaysians as one harmonious nation.
“As a recognition of this shared heritage and contribution, an initial allocation of RM500,000 has been announced to support Sikh community activities and celebrations nationwide,” he said.
Anwar also acknowledged the long-standing role of the Sikh community as an integral part of Malaysia’s journey, noting their meaningful contributions to social development and national progress over the years.
