Erdogan: Türkiye Backs Any Effort That Preserves Syria’s Unity and Stability

ISTANBUL: President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reiterated Türkiye’s support for initiatives that promote peace and long-term stability in Syria, stressing that Ankara will back any move that safeguards the country’s territorial integrity and political unity.

Speaking after a cabinet meeting in Ankara on Monday, Erdogan said Türkiye views such steps as constructive and necessary for ending years of conflict in its neighboring country.

“For us, any initiative that contributes to peace and stability in Syria, while ensuring its territorial integrity and political unity, is acceptable,” the Turkish president said in an address to the nation.

Erdogan described recent agreements related to Syria as a turning point for the Syrian people, saying they have opened a new phase toward reconciliation and recovery. He cautioned, however, that attempts to disrupt or sabotage this progress would not succeed.

“These developments mark a new chapter for Syria. Anyone who seeks to undermine it will be overwhelmed by it,” he warned.

Emphasizing Türkiye’s regional vision, Erdogan said Ankara sincerely hopes Syria can restore internal peace as soon as possible, allowing its people to live in security and dignity.

He added that Türkiye remains committed to promoting peace, stability, reconciliation, and cooperation across the wider region and will continue opposing forces that profit from violence and prolonged conflict.

“Türkiye will stand resolutely against those who trade in blood, fuel instability, and disregard human life,” Erdogan said.

The president’s remarks reaffirm Ankara’s position on Syria as diplomatic efforts continue to focus on reducing tensions and supporting political solutions to the long-running crisis.
